About Me . . .

Hello! and Welcome to my page!

I am a biological anthropologist and I study bones. I earned my PhD from the University of Victoria (2016), and completed both my MSc and H.BSc at the University of Toronto in Canada.

My PhD research centered on factors that affect accuracy in determining age-at-death from skeletal joints. This project was generously funded by the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship (CIHR) 2012-2015.

My research interests are broadly based in human skeletal biology, bioarchaeology, paleopathology, and forensic anthropology. More specifically I'm interested in human health, nutrition and diet; aging, osteoarthritis, and osteoporosis. I have several publications in the Journal of Forensic Sciences, the American Journal of Physical Anthropology, and the International Journal of Paleopathology. My long term academic goals include teaching at a research-focused institution.

I am an adjunct professor, senior lab instructor, and collections manager in the Department of Anthropology at UVic. I teach in Continuing Studies and serve as a Let's Talk Science Program Coordinator. I have consulted on forensic cases with the RCMP, OPP, and Saanich Police departments. I love summer, Cross-fit, and keeping up with my inquisitive and (very!) busy six-year-old.
